Lambeth Planning Alerts
Written on July 29, 2006
Waiting for the decision on our freeholders bit of handy work, Ive been checking the Lambeth Planning website pretty regularly recently. One thing that occurred to me is that, whilst people generally hear about planning applications that directly effect you, there are plenty a few roads away that people just never find out about, but would probably have some interest in if they did.
The best example is the now ex-Queen pub in Brixton. This was a lovely Victorian boozer, fairly unique in that it sat at a Y junction between two roads and supposedly protected by the conservation area. But the first thing most people knew about its demolition (to make way for luxury flats) were when pictures of the wrecking ball moving in were posted on Urban 75.
In an effort to try and open the information up a bit, I have written a mini screen scrapper generates planning alert emails from the Lambeth Planning website. The alerts cover SW2 and SW9 and include TinyUrl links to the relevant page on the council website and the comments form for that each application. You can sign up here.
