Farmsubsidy.org

I’ve been working on the web design for Farmsubsidy.org for the last couple of weeks (I’m particularly chuffed with the way the cow moos when you hover over it : ).
The site brings a bit of transparency to the Common Agricultural Policy, letting people see how the money gets dished out by country and company. It launched this week, bang on time for the discussions about the future of the CAP and Britain’s rebate.
It has the potential to seriously change people’s perception of where money flows in Europe (most people’s mental image when someone mentions the CAP is a french farmer with one pig and an apple tree). Now whilst the average Farmer GillĂ© does OK, so do alot of very big companies.
Particularly interesting is the union busting, Gate were’s so skint so we need to sack our workforce Gourmet. Who received nearly 700 grand last year! What for? Is there a European airline food mountain somewhere we need to know about? Hopefully the TGWU will do something useful with it.
