NME 4 BNP?

Written on October 2, 2005

The NME reviewer for the Hard Fi gig and Who Shot The Sheriff,
Rich Pelley, was obviously at a different gig to me.

Ghost Town was "Predictable",  "no reason for them [Hard Fi]  to be playing this fun-sized former fleapit". No mention of the film - could Mr Pelly have been in the bar flashing the NME plastic at this point in the proceedings?

Of course dodgy NME reviews are par-for-the-course and always have been. But what is truly offensive is their belittleing of the Love music Hate Rasicm cause:

"We are Hard-Fi! We love music, we hate racism!" yells Richard Archer,
just to remind everyone that it’s not parsnips we’re supposed to be
hating"

The Strangler’s ‘Peaches’ with the presumed extra racial message: yes
folks, it doesn’t matter what colour your bottom is - all bottoms are
nice.

There is also suggestion that Richard Archer from Hard Fi doesn’t really want to be there when, as far as I can work out, he is a passionate supporter of LMHR. NME are happy to take the copy, the guest list tickets but not the message apparently.
